Giali beach, Corfu: A secret paradise beach

Giali beach Corfu

Giali Beach (also known as Gyali) is a secluded beach on the western coast of the island of Corfu, located near Ermones Beach and below the village of Giannades.

Gyali Beach is surrounded by rocks, and the shore is covered with fine pebbles. You can easily guess the clarity and transparency of the waters from its name: “Giali” or “Gyali”, which is the word for “glass” in Greek!

How to get to Giali beach

Easy access to Gyali Beach is only possible by sea, either by boat or by organized excursions that depart from Liapades or Ermones Beach. You can also rent your own boat from Ermones Beach, as the distance is not very far, taking approximatelly 10-15′ minutes.

Ermones beach from the left (Taverna Parking only) to the right side. Book a boat ride from the beachfront (arrow) for approximatelly 15 euro per person (the boat fits up to 6 people).

You can also access Gyali on foot, which I would not recommend, unless you are in a good condition physically. In order to find the path, drive to the chapel of Prophet Elias, near Giannades and then walk short distance to the Giali view point. There you can hike down a steep hill, using the ropes and ladders, decending to the right side of the beach. Make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes, not your flip flops!

Attractions nearby

Fun fact, if you take the boat service from Ermones, you can ask for the blue cave tour. Yes, there is a gorgeous cave on the way to Giali beach that is worth checking out.

Gyali Beach is the southernmost of a series of secluded beaches that start from Liapades and are truly like paradise. Completely untouched, with no tourist infrastructure. If you are looking for relaxation and tranquility, you should definitely pay a visit to Giali and the nearby area!
